Special Development Activity Fund

On September 29, 2006, through a cooperative agreement with USAID/Bolivia, ACDI/VOCA began implementation of the Special Development Activity Fund (SDAF) for a period of three years.

The SDAF implements small self-help projects that respond to the expressed and perceived needs of low-income communities in urban and rural areas. These projects are characterized by their people- to-people approach and include substantial input from local communities.

The SDAF is a mechanism that allows USAID/Bolivia to finance small development activities that have an immediate impact at the individual level. The SDAF has an emphasis on working with rural and peri-urban poor and indigenous groups and can help communities, through democratic participation, achieve their goals and improve their lives through initiatives that increase incomes, improve schools and provide basic health and sanitation services.
